The Flight Centre K2 Road Cycle Classic is a 192km road bike event in Coromandel, starting and finishing in Whitianga on Saturday, 28 October 2017. There is also an elite 96km event, the Cervelo K1.
The event is named after Kuaotunu, a community on the wild eastern coastline of the Coromandel Peninsula. In Maori, the name Kuaotunu means "to inspire fear in young animals". The 2 represents the almost 200km that the ride will cover. It follows a scenic and varied route, traveling through sub tropical forest, pacific coastlines, rural farmland and the Pohutukawa coastline of the Hauraki Gulf.
