The Whangamata Adventure Race on Saturday, 11 August 2018 involves travelling on foot and by mountain bike to collect checkpoints marked on a map.
The course will take teams on an exciting adventure along remote beaches and through beautiful native bush and forestry. The course will be kept secret until the day of the race and you will receive your maps before race start so you can plan your strategy and route choice.
The disciplines include mountain biking (on forestry roads, gravel roads and farm land), trekking (trails, streams, native bush and forestry), navigation (map and compass only - no GPS allowed), open ocean kayaking in the 12 hour race, and mystery activities. Previous mystery activities have included suduko, MTB seesaw, mud run, paint ball shooting, scrabble and quoits!
You can race in a team of 2, 3 or 4 people. 2 & 3 person teams are in the same category.
