The TriAbility Triathlon in Wainuiomata is an inclusive multisport event that supports people of all abilities in a competitive environment.
There are three distances to choose from - Sprint: 700m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run/walk; Super Sprint: 350m swim, 13km cycle and 2.5km run/walk; and Super Sonic primarily for children: 50m swim, 2km cycle and 400m run/walk.
The TriAbility is run by Sport Wainuiomata Inc (SWI), who is partnering with Hutt Valley Disabled Resources Trust (HVDRT). In order to support different abilities, sign language interpreters, large visual signs (words and pictorial), accessible facilities, quite spaces are provided, and co-racers are allowed.
This is not just an event for disabled people, it is an event for all abilities, from elite to first-timers and everything in between.
