The Tasman Adventure Race in Motueka on 14 November 2026 is an exciting team event supporting the Motueka High School Adventure Racing team.
Teams of 2, 3 or 4 will have three categories to choose from; 4 hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour. The courses will cater to all abilities, with the navigation and terrain difficulty increasing as the duration gets longer.
Teams in the 4 hour event can expect to use basic navigation to keep themselves moving over the course on foot and by mountain bike for 3.5 - 7 hours.
The 8 hour event is designed for those with a reasonable level of fitness and intermediate level navigation. Teams can expect to be on foot and mountain bike for 7-11 hours. There may also be water element for 8 hr competitors.
The 12 hour event is designed to be an exciting challenge for more experienced adventure racers. The race includes packrafting and watercraft stages and the navigation will be challenging and will require a competent navigator in your team. There will also be technically challenging sections of mountain biking that may require riders to get off and walk. It will take 10-15 hours to complete the course.
