The Tasman Adventure Race in Rotoiti/St Arnaud on 15 November 2025 is an exciting team event supporting the Motueka High School Adventure Racing team.
Teams of 2, 3 or 4 will have three categories to choose from; 4 hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour. The courses will cater to all abilities, with the navigation and terrain difficulty increasing as the duration gets longer.
The 4 hour event is designed for families or beginners keen to try an adventure race. You will need to be able to jog/walk 5km off road, and mountain bike 20km on easy 4WD trails.
The 8 hour event is designed to be achievable for competitors with a reasonable level of fitness and some navigational competency. You will need to be able to jog/walk 10km off road, and mountain bike 30km on hilly 4WD trails and singletrack.
The 12 hour event is designed to be an exciting challenge for more experienced adventure racers. The race includes packrafting and watercraft stages and the navigation will be challenging and will require a competent navigator in your team. There will also be technically challenging sections of mountain biking that may require riders to get off and walk. You will need to be able to jog/walk 20km off road, and mountain bike 50km on forestry roads and hilly 4WD trails.
