The Surf2Firth Bush Ultramarathon, Marathon, Half Marathon and 14km on Saturday, 23 March 2019 runs over the Coromandel Tramping trails through Department of Conservation land.
The marathon starts at Hikuai School and there is a transition point half way along. This provides toilets, water, first aid and is the transition point for the team relay, which has legs of 20 and 22kms. The half marathon starts from the transition point and the 14km from the Waiotahi Track. All events finish at Thames High School.
The Surf2Firth course is set on the rugged Coromandel ranges and runs over Department of Conservation (DOC) tramping tracks. Uneven track surfaces, tree roots, branches, steep inclines and declines make this a step up from usual trail run events, making it one of the most technical off road races in New Zealand.
