The Whangarei Run/Walk Festival on 13 September 2026 has a 21km half marathon and fun runs and walks as part of the Sport Northland Run/Walk Series.

This year's Half Marathon features picturesque coastal views, the Town Basin Sculpture Garden, Te Matau A Pohe Bridge and Kowhiti Foot Bridge, drink stations every 3kms and entertainment along the course.

The 8.5km Run/Walk includes the Hatea Loop featuring stunning bush tracks and the Hatea River.
