The iconic Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon returns on 28 June 2026 including a Half Marathon, 10km fun run and Kids' Magic Mile.

All races consist of flat out and back courses starting on the Hnry Stadium Walkway, and heading south on Waterloo Quay toward the Railway Station.

The Marathon and Half Marathon are scenic tours of the Capital's harbour bays, passing iconic landmarks on the way. The Full Marathon does two laps of the Half Marathon route. Both courses are certified to IAAF & AIMS standard. Walkers are welcome.

Thousands of runners and walkers participate in this annual event, which was established by the Wellington Marathon Clinic and has been Wellington's favourite footrace since 1986.
