The Waitomo Triathlon Festival at Lake Rua in Harewood, Christchurch returns on 13 December 2026.

Get ready for an awesome fresh water swim, a flat and fast bike and finish with a scenic trail run on a spectator friendly course.

From its inception in 2010, this Triathlon Festival has set a new standard for multisport events in Canterbury. With a wide variety of race options to choose from, there is something for everyone from the first time runner to the professional athlete.

Distances/Events

Triathlon (Swim + Bike + Run):
Kids (5-9 years): 50m wade + 2K + 1K
Try A Tri/Juniors: 150m + 10K + 1.7K
Draft Legal Sprint: 750m + 20K + 5K

Duathlon (Run + Bike + Run):
Try A Du/Juniors: 1K + 10K + 1.7K
Sprint: 2.4K + 15K + 5K

Aquabike (Swim + Bike):
750m + 15K
