Try Off Road Taupō on 12 December 2026 is an action-packed off-road festival set in the adventure capital of the North Island.

Designed as an event for the whole family, this iconic day celebrates off-road racing across water, trails, and rugged terrain. All set against some of Taupō’s most famous natural landmarks.

The headline Off-Road Triathlon delivers one of the fastest swims you’ll ever experience, with a 1.6km downriver swim in the Waikato River. Athletes then tackle a 32km mountain bike course through iconic Taupō trails before finishing with a 10km trail run that showcases sections near Huka Falls and along the Waikato River. The triathlon can be completed solo or as a team.

Trail runners can choose from a 50km Ultra, 26km Trail Run, or 10km Trail Run, with courses winding through forest and river trails that highlight the best of the Taupō region. Younger athletes can also get involved in the fun with the brand-new Kids’ Dash ’n’ Slide.

Also new for 2026 is the 32km Mountain Bike Solo Race, giving riders the chance to race through the same iconic trail network and river landscapes.

The Triathlon starts at Cherry island and finishes at Spa Park. The Trail Runs are all based from Spa Park.
