True West Adventure Race
Thursday, 19 February 2026 to Sunday, 22 February 2026
Hari Hari, West Coast, NZ
The True West Adventure Race 2026 is a team event that takes place in some of New Zealand’s most remote and wild terrain.
The 2026 event is hosted from the town of Hari Hari on the West Coast.
Teams of adventure athletes race non-stop, across rugged and challenging terrain. The teams must navigate through the wilderness using only a map and compass. To finish ranked, teams must complete the course with their complete team. Only teams that can work together under stress and fatigue, have a high level fitness and ability, and outdoor skills will have any chance of finishing.
There are 3, 6, 24 and 48 hour events with disciplines including rafting, mountain biking and hiking.
2026 also includes a Schools Adventure Race with 3 race categories to suit all skill levels: Junior: Years 7 & 8 (3-4 hour), Intermediate: Years 9 & 10 (4-6 hour) and Senior: Years 11 – 13 (6-8 hour). Race in teams of 2, 3, or 4 (Male, Female, or Mixed).
