The Rotorua Walking Festival from 21 to 22 March 2026 celebrates walking in the beautiful Rotorua landscape which includes forest, native bush, lakes, parks and distinctive geothermal features.

The details on this page are based on the previous event and subject to change; we will update this listing as more information comes to hand.

This year will be the 33rd year of the walking festival and there are walks that will suit just about everyone: 42km, 21km and 10km walks in Whakarewarewa Forest on Saturday; and 42km, 30km, 20km and 10km town walks through the lakefront and around the Government Gardens on Sunday.

For most walks you will only need a comfortable pair of shoes so it is the easiest form of exercise to get involved in.
