The Red Stag Rotorua Marathon on 1 May 2027 is one of New Zealand's most scenic and iconic marathon events.

The event includes a distance for everyone, including the full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km and 5km fun run/walk and a Kids' Mini Marathon.

The Marathon route starts and finishes right beside the Novotel Rotorua Lakeside, offering an unforgettable journey through Rotorua's scenic beauty on an anti-clockwise loop around Lake Rotorua. The Half Marathon is a stunning point-to-point journey, starting from the picturesque Hamurana Springs and runs anti-clockwise into the city, following the second half of the full Marathon route.

The 10km course starts at Te Puia and takes runners through geothermal pathways, passing the magnificent Pōhutu Geyser, before heading into Whakarewarewa Forest and then pedestrian walkways through to the Rotorua lakefront finish. The 5km takes runners on a vibrant mix of road and trail, including a geothermal section beside the Government Gardens.
