The Reservoir Dog Backyard Ultra is a last one standing endurance event starting on 14 November 2026 in Marton.

Competitors run a 6.706km lap every hour on the hour until there is only one runner left. Everyone else is a DNF. Run 1 lap or run 100.

The course runs around the Marton Reservoir on a mix of walking and mountain bike tracks with minimal vert. Before every lap start, the Race Director flips a coin for the course direction. Heads = clockwise. Tails = anti-clockwise.

The event can be run solo or in 2-person teams. Either team member can run any lap, in any order (one bib per team, whoever is running, wears it).

This event is run by the Tūtaenui Stream Restoration Society.
