The Porirua Grand Traverse on Sunday, 8 April 2018 has a number of options with individual and team categories in the multisport event, a duathlon option for non-kayakers, and standaline mountain run, fun run/walk, paddle and mountain bike events.
The full multisport event sees a paddle across Porirua Harbour into Pauatahanui and back, followed by a mountain bike course on a myriad of hidden trails around Porirua, and finally a mountain run over a mix of native bush tracks, private farm lands and hidden coastal beaches with views over Porirua and Cook Strait.
The fun run/walk course has changed for 2018; instead of cutting through the inland track, it goes around the Whitireia park coastline. The distance is 9km (previously 7.5km), but it's flatter and more scenic. 2018 also sees the introduction of a standalone 10km paddle event, open to kayaks, surf skis paddle boards & waka-ama.
