Hunua Hillbilly Ultramarathon

Hunua Ranges, Hunua, Auckland
The Hunua Hillbilly on 21 March 2026 is a 60km ultramarathon of amazing single trail through stunning native bush in the Hunua Ranges in Auckland, NZ.
The course is an 'unapologetically tough' circumnavigation of the Hunuas, starting and finishing at the event base at the upper Mangatawhiri campground. The bulk of the run will be on grunty single track under the cover of stunning native bush. There will also be a combination of gravel roads, MTB trail, boardwalks, swing bridges and even the odd Water Care dam mixed in for good measure. When you aren’t under the very welcome cover of the bush, you will enjoy some of the most stunning 360 views in Auckland.
As well as the Ultra course, 2026 includes a Marathon and 22km Trail Run. The Marathon is still a tough course but misses the toughest and most technical section of the 60km course. The 22km course is challenging, but is designed to use the less technical and (slightly) less demanding tracks/sections, so is great for anyone new to trail running, on the journey to longer things or anyone who loves a good trail ‘half’.
