The Hātea Grand Prix is a fun run/walk series in Whangarei with the first of 5 races on 11 February 2026.

The course starts from the Tikipunga football club carpark. Passing through the Tikipunga Sports Park on grass, we pick up the track as it winds alongside the Hātea river, before it morphs into the Waitaua stream and meets Vinegar Hill road for a turn around back the way you came to the start. Nicely shaded by trees along its length and relatively flat, it’s a perfect course for a summer evening 4.8km blast.

Registration from 5.30pm. Race starts at 6pm.

This is a timed event and points will be awarded in each division throughout the series. Accumulate points at each event and strive for a PB to get bonus points.

Hātea Run Members are free, Non Members $5 koha.
