The Governors Bay to Lyttelton Road Race on 29 August 2026 is a popular annual 10km race that is one of Canterbury’s longest-running events.

The course is undulating with short - medium uphills and a fast downhill leading into the final flat straight and onto the Lyttelton Recreation Reserve. The race format is a chasing start, which aims to create a mass finish by the slowest runners heading off first and the faster runners chasing them home.

The event is hosted by the Methodist Harriers Club.
