The Cape Egmont Half Marathon Run/Walk on Sunday, 12 July 2020 is in memory of a close friend and fellow runner Andrew Smith, who lost his battle with brain cancer in December 2016.
Andrew loved running and participating in marathons and half marathons. Even after two major brain surgeries to remove the growth, Andrew successfully completed a number of marathons and half marathons. All proceeds from this event will go to the Taranaki Cancer Society.
The 2020 event introduces the composite relay: the first leg of the relay is 9.5km and is a compulsory walk; the second leg is 11.5km and is the running leg.
