Okato to Cape Egmont, Taranaki
The Cape Egmont Half Marathon Run/Walk on 12 July 2026 is on a 21.8km undulating and scenic course in Taranaki.
The point-to-point route begins in Okato with a gradual incline on country roads to the halfway point, then a gentle decline to the coast and Cape Egmont Boat Club and replica lighthouse to the finish at Warea. The distance can be completed as a 2-person relay run/walk, with a 11.4km first leg (changeover is at the top of Mid Newall Road) and a 10.4km second leg to the finish.
This annual event is held in memory of friend and fellow runner, Andrew Smith, who lost his battle with brain cancer in December 2016. Andrew loved running and participating in marathons and half marathons. Even after two major brain surgeries, Andrew successfully completed a number of marathons and half marathons.
Every event finisher will receive a medal and all proceeds will go to the Taranaki Cancer Society.
