Blazing Hills Trail Run & OCR

Blazing Hills on 6 March 2027 is a Trail Run/Walk and Obstacle Course event hosted on private farmland in the heart of the Waimarino.

For the trail run, choose from a 3km, 5km, 11km or 21km distance and experience the vistas on this vast hill country, which is varied and scenic. All courses are designed to maximise hills and challenge the quads, except for the 4km trail, which is designed for all age groups and abilities who just want to get out and have fun.

2027 includes a team-based event, The Hot Lap that sends teams of three out onto the 11km course, one runner at a time. Runner one heads off with the solo 11km field, runner two follows 20 minutes later, and runner three brings up the rear another 20 minutes after that. No baton, no standing round waiting at a changeover, just three legs of the same honest, hilly course.

OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and the event includes a range of distances and difficulties; from 10km, 7km and 3km courses, featuring over 40 unique obstacles, as well as a team and kids race.

Participants have a special opportunity to access undiscovered territory and terrain over off-the-beaten tracks in an authentic part of NZ.
