The Ben Lomond Vertical Kilometre on 20 February 2026 is an uphill challenge climbing 1200m over 3.9km to the summit of Ben Lomond.

This is NZ's only certified Vertical Kilometre. It is held the day before the iconic Shotover Moonlight Marathon.

The course starts from near the Ben Lomond Woolshed beside the scenic Moke Lake, to the Ben Lomond summit. The course is all off-track so good footwork, balance and strength is essential (Poles are permitted).

As this is an uphill only course, all participants will need to descend from the summit. The official descent route will be confirmed pre-race.
