Runaway Auckland Marathon

Devonport to Victoria Park, Auckland
The Barfoot & Thompson Runaway Auckland Marathon on 1 November 2026 is an iconic running festival and NZ's biggest marathon running event.
There are a range of distances so everyone can participate - Marathon, Half Marathon, 11km Traverse, 5km Challenge and the Kids' Marathon.
The Full and Half Marathon courses start in Devonport and take runners through Takapuna, onto the Northern Busway before reaching one of the course’s iconic highlights, the run across the Auckland Harbour Bridge, with sweeping views of the Waitematā Harbour and Rangitoto Island. After descending into the city, both courses loop past Westhaven Marina and split, with the Half Marathon runners heading to the finishing line at Victoria Park near the CBD, and the Marathon runners continuing on to an out-and-back section along Auckland’s sparkling waterfront to St Heliers Bay and return. Both courses have been IAAF and AIMS Certified since 2006.
The 11km also crosses the Auckland Harbour Bridge, starting from Smales Farm. The 5km course starts from Wynyard Quarter and joins part of the Marathon course through the CBD before heading to the finish line.
The "Party in the Park" after function includes a corporate marquee village and other fun and entertainment.
