The Shorebird Coast Run returns on 17 October 2026 with a 5km, 10km and Half Marathon along a section of the picturesque Hauraki Rail Trail.

All courses are flat, out-and-back routes starting from Ray's Rest Reserve in Kaiaua.

As well as the main trail runs, there is also the Kuaka Kids' Race. This is a fun 1.5km loop for ages 4–12, where kids follow the incredible migration of Pūkorokoro’s own godwit/kuaka. Along the way, they’ll stop at stations as they “fly” to Alaska, China, and back home to New Zealand.

This is an opportunity to get out and enjoy the beautiful coastal trails, learn something new about the amazing wildlife of Pūkorokoro/Miranda and support the people helping preserve their environment, the Pūkorokoro Shorebird Centre.
