Bivouac Night Navigation Series: Mcleans Island
Wednesday, 14 September 2022
Mcleans Island, Christchurch
Bivouac Night Navigation at Mcleans Island in Christchurchon 14 September 2022 is one of three events in an adventure navigation series of races organised by the Bivouac Outdoor Southerly Storm orienteering team.
This is a rogaine event, in which competitors walk or run or bike* through the forest collecting checkpoints; these are shown on the map handed out just before the start. All competitors have an hour to collect as many checkpoints as possible before returning, often in a rush, to the finish. You can compete in teams or as an individual.
Runners and walkers can cut across the forest, through the sand dunes, whereas the mountain bikers will navigate their way through the track networks to find the controls.
*The Mcleans Island event includes a mountain bike option.
