The Karekare Dune Run on 29 March 2026 explores the dunes and tracks that meander from Karekare Beach to the Pararaha Valley.

Starting from near the Karekare Beach Car Park, the 11km course heads south through the Tunnel Point Campsite. A friendly Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team marshal will direct you over dune tracks away from sensitive grasses, to the Pararaha Stream trail. Admire the views as you turn around at the Pararaha Campsite to return. Weather-permitting, runners will be directed along the beach before rejoining the main course back to the startline.

Test your strength and resolve on soft sand and stream trails. Encounter windswept black sands, spot rare migratory dotterils and run above the important wetlands on new boardwalks.

Enjoy a free post race pancake breakfast.
