The Kaikōura Whale Run on 6 September 2025 is an annual run/walk half marathon, 12km and 5km fun run and walk plus kids 2km race.

The Kaikōura Whale Run began life in the school grounds of Kaikōura Suburban School as the Kaikōura Suburban Half Marathon. The idea was to create a fun event fundraiser that could encourage folk to have a get fit project over winter to feel great for the summer.

Each race follows a scenic mixed terrain course which starts and ends at Kaikōura Suburban School.

All events start and finish at Kaikōura Suburban School at 425 Schoolhouse Road.
