GODZone Adventure Race: Chapter 13
Thursday, 25 February 2027 to Friday, 5 March 2027
Twizel, Canterbury
The GODZone Adventure Race is a multi-day, non-stop, expedition-style adventure race from 25 February to 5 March 2027.
The 2027 event (Chapter 13) will be held in the Aoraki Mt Cook region of the South Island. The registration hub will be in the alpine village of Twizel.
The event pitches teams of four against each other as they navigate their own route across an unrelenting course that includes disciplines such as mountain biking, trekking, packrafting, ropes and coasteering. Each team is required to provide a support crew.
The GZ Pure is the ultimate expedition adventure racing experience with teams travelling approximately 600km across New Zealand’s wilderness for up to 8 and a half days. It represents the most technically challenging adventure race in the world.
The GZ Pursuit is based around the GZ Pure event, but with certain stages either shortened, removed or adapted to give teams more chance to complete the full course in the time allowed. Typically, a GZ Pursuit course will be somewhere between 50 and 150km shorter than a GZ Pure course.
