The Dovedale Hill Race on 5 September 2026 is a classic local 11km run/walk from Wakefield to the top of Dovedale Hill along the Pigeon Valley Road.

Free to members of WH, AthleticsNelson and children, youth and students. Registration in the "Whitby" car park in the middle of Wakefield from 1:30pm. Walkers start 2:00pm, Early Runners 2:15pm & Runners 2:30pm.

This is a one way course with competitors either jogging back down using forestry roads and Pigeon Valley Rd, or carpooling and leaving a car at the top before the event. There is also a 5km event for juniors from half way, starting at 2:45pm.
