This week's newsletter has interesting articles, discounts for premium members, postponement of the Port Hills Spring Rogaine and a date shift for the North Harbour Swim & Run Series events this side of Christmas.
I'm a bit behind updates on the website, partly due to a laundry plumbing issue yesterday (which is also why this newsletter is a day later than usual), so there'll be a heap of updates on the updates page in the next couple of days.
Rod Dixon on inspiration
Last week's Dirt Church Radio podcast interview with New Zealand running legend Rod Dixon was one of the best yet. Eugene writes about Rod on Stuff and you can listen to the podcast via the Dirt Church Radio website.
Brook Runs Te-Araroa
Brook van Reenen has just started running the Te Araroa Trail this week to raise money for the mental health foundation. The trail runs the full length of New Zealand and is around 3000km long. You can find out more, donate and follow Brook on the fundraising page and on Facebook.
The funniest marathon signs on Instgram
Runners World has assembled a collection of funny signs people hold at marathons to inspire people, get a laugh or call them a cheating bastard. That lady does not look impressed! Check them out here.
Ultra marathon running - lasting the distance
Katie Wright, winner of the Riverhead ReLaps, is off to Tennessee in October to run the world champs of the backyard ultra format. She spoke with Radio New Zealand a couple of weeks back. Read the article and listen to the conversation here.
Premium members get access to discounts for a range of events in Australia & New Zealand. Enter enough discounted events and your membership pays for itself, as well as opening up a range of useful functions on the website!
Our most recently added discounts are for the Valley Ultra and the last two races in the Christchurch 10km Night Series. We also have discounts for the Kinloch Off Road Challenge; Santoft Forest and Beach Half Marathon; Kawerau King of the Mountain; Xterra Waihi; Kerikeri Half Marathon; as well as events in Australia.
To find out what's been recently updated, check the recent updates page regularly. I include in this newsletter a list of the more important updates (see below) such as date changes, cancellations, or late additions to the calendar. And check out the full calendar of upcoming events.
- The Port Hills Spring Rogaine has been postponed from 1 September to 12 October
- The events in the North Harbour Swim & Run Series before Christmas have all moved back a week later than originally scheduled
Have a great running week!
