Sky Rock n Run in Canterbury, New Zealand
The Sky Rock n Run is a mountain marathon in Canterbury, New Zealand with a 42km marathon, a 30km adventure race, 21km mountain half marathon and 15km trail race.
This race is a tough 42km over Mt Oxford and into the wilderness behind. It involves a massive total elevation gain of 3607 metres and is not to be taken lightly. But that makes this race even more of an adventure.
The Sky Rock n Run is based on a course used by some of New Zealand's top ultra-marathon runners. While the race is a marathon in distance, it is still expected the leaders will take approximately 5-6 hours to complete the race due to the difficult terrain and amount of climbing involved. The event is open to all, not just elite runners.
Race registration and gear check are held at the Coopers Creek Hall on Woodside Road. This is 2km from the start area which is up at Coopers Creek, at the end of Mountain Road.
