Women On Wheels on Saturday, 9 December 2017 is a women's only cycle event based out of Methven at the foothills of Canterbury with a road race on Saturday and a mountain bike event on Sunday.
This event has been postponed due to lack of entries; a new date is to be confirmed.
On Saturday, riders take to the tarmac and smash out a choice of 30 kilometres, 50 kilometres or the "70km Juno Goddess of women" event. All events will start and finish in Methven, taking the quiet Canterbury roads and hugging the Taylor Range. The focus on the event is participation and there is an event for all abilities.
If you enjoy the "social" side of cycling, the team event may be for you: teams of three combine their times to contest the teams categories. This should bring out the best in the race strategy and team tactics.
The time-trial event will take the strategy out of the race with competitors racing against the clock. This will allow for those people training for the likes of an ironman event or the longest day coast to coast to test those aero setups and race the clock.
