The Tarawera Ultramarathon on Saturday, 11 February 2017 is New Zealand's most prestigious ultramarathon and is part of the 12-race Ultra-Trail World Tour.

This annual trail run goes from Rotorua to Kawerau, with 62km, 87km and 102km events. The 62km & 87km distances can also be run solo or in a team relay.

The spectacular course will also take runners through places of immense cultural significance to Maori people, the indigenous people of New Zealand. Around 1260 participants with more than 600 international athletes and many of the world’s best trail ultra runners, will run the race of their lives from Rotorua to Kawerau in February.

The 87km & 102km events start at The Redwoods and finish in Kawerau. The 62km starts at the beginning of the Western Okataina Walkway and finishes in Kawerau.
