Run/Walk Off Road/Trail Multisport Relay

Hosted by the Waitemata Canoe and Multisport Club, the South Head Challenge is situated at Lake Ototoa on Sunday, 1 October 2017, about one hour from central Auckland on the South Head of the Kaipara Harbour.

This event is not being run in 2018; it may return in 2019.

This stunning location provides a multisport challenge that is a fast pace hit-out for top athletes and the ideal race for first timers; kayaking on Lake Ototoa and entering the northern end of Woodhill Forrest for the mountain bike and run. The compact central transition area means a support team is optional as all stages start and finish at the reserve

The addition of a short course this year is an ideal distance for; juniors, family teams and athletes looking to ease back into the race calendar after the winter break.


Waitemata Canoe and Multisport Club


Short course:
5.5km kayak + 15km MTB + 4.5km trail run

Long course:
11km kayak + 25km MTB + 10km trail run
