The current edition of this event is on 30 March 2019.
The iconic Moonride on Saturday, 10 March 2018 is held at the Waipa Mountain Bike Area off State Highway 5 and uses the stunning Whakarewarewa Forest trails.
The Moonride course will entail a mix of grade 2 to 3 mountain bike trails and forestry roads to allow for easy passing. There will be a new course for 2018.
The 12 hour event starts at 10am Saturday morning and goes through until 10pm. The 6 hour event starts at 10am Saturday morning and goes through to 4pm. All events are open to solo riders and teams of 2 to 5 people.
Teams ride the 8km circuit and complete as many laps as they can within the timeframe of their event. Tents, campervans and caravans pop up in the campsites which riders wind their way through each lap creating an electric atmosphere and unbelievable experience.
Due to a lack of entries, the 24 hour event was cancelled.
