The Marathon Swim in Auckland on Sunday, 16 April 2017 is a 10 km ocean swim for individual swimmers and teams of 2-6 people.

The course starts at the boat ramp at St Heliers, heads out round the white pole, off Ladies Bay, then heads to the Red Pole of the point between Kohi and Mission Bay, then heads out and round Bean Rock. From Bean Rock to the Red Pole off Tamaki Yacht Club and back to the White Pole off Ladies Bay and then back to the finish line at the boat ramp at St Heliers.

Due to the distance and the duration of the event, each swimmer or team must provide their own on water support (kayak, SUP or power boat suitable for supporting a swimmer). Teams of 4 people or over must supply a power boat that can carry those team members not in the water.
