The current edition of this event is on 30 March 2018.

The Lake Hayes Triathlon is New Zealand's oldest surviving triathlon, first held in 1983, and is currently held twice annually at Easter & Christmas. The event on Friday, 3 April 2015 includes a triathlon variant with kayaking instead of swimming, long and short duathlons, and standalone trail running events.

The duathlon, triathon & multisport can completed individually, or as part of a team of 2 to 3 people. This triathlon has been a cornerstone of much larger events in the New Zealand triathlon calendar, in the past doubling as the New Zealand national championships, the Oceania Championships, and the World Championships.

8K Kayak + 10K Road Bike + 10K Trail Run (Multisport)
4K Kayak + 20K Road Bike + 5K Trail Run (Multisport)
1.5K + 40K + 10K Olympic Distance Triathlon
750m + 20K + 5K Sprint Distance Triathlon
