The Great Kauri Run

Saturday, 2 May 2020

Coromandel School, Coromandel

Run/Walk Off Road/Trail

The Great Kauri Run on Saturday, 2 May 2020 is an annual trail run or walk which takes place on the stunningly beautiful Coromandel Peninsula.

All distances start and finish in Coromandel Town, with the 65km going via Waikawau Beach, and the 30km on the old historic Colville Rd.

200 years ago most of the Coromandel peninsula was covered in Kauri Forest. Today very few of these majestic giants of the forest remain. A kauri tree is planted along the trail for each person that participates in the event and the vision is to plant 10,000 trees over the next ten years and to create an avenue of Kauri all the way from Waikawau to Coromandel.
