The Goat Race on Saturday, 21 January 2017 is run on the same day as the Mountain Man multi sport event, and traverses the legendary Croesus Crossing track from Barrytown to Blackball.

The event scheduled for 21 January 2017 has been cancelled.

This is a 25km long mountain trail running race and is an individual pursuit event, open to anyone over the age of 14.

The track has a long history dating back to the late 1860's when gold was first discovered on the West Coast. It has a total ascent of 1054 metres and has a maximum elevation of 1201 metres. The Paparoa Range trail remains a popular walking track and has had an extensive upgrade over the past couple of years.
