The Bombay Fun Run celebrates its 8th year on Sunday, 17 March 2019; this fun run and walk organised by the Bombay Lions Club celebrates the arrival on 18 March 1865 of the ship "Bombay" from England.
The "Bombay" was towed into Auckland having lost a large portion of her masts and rigging in a storm. 400 immigrants on board travelled along the Gt South Rd from Drury to Bombay where they were to settle on their promised 10 acre allotments. The 10km, 15km and half marathon courses follow the path these pioneers travelled.
The 5kn course takes in part of the trail and follows a picturesque rural road taking in the beautiful elevated scenery of Bombay.
