The Bell Hill Challenge on Saturday, 2 November 2019 is a trail run and walk at Baldoon Farm in the Selwyn Plantation Block, approx 60k west of Christchurch.
At 960m high, Bell Hill summit can be seen from every angle in the surrounding region and once on top the view stretches for more than 30 kilometres in all directions. Situated close to the West Coast Road, it was used as a landmark when travellers blazed a trail from Canterbury toward the West Coast.
There have been some course changes this year due to ongoing logging in the area. The route is now a loop starting at Baldoon Farm, running into the forest from the end of Dalethorpe Road onto Godley Road in the Forestry Block, and finishing back along Dalethorpe Road.
