The Akatarawa Attack on Sunday, 31 January 2016 is a foot & mountain bike rogaine in the rugged Akatarawa Ranges near Wellington.
In even numbered years, the event is run in the Akatarawa Ranges; in odd numbered years it is run elsewhere.
The area is the Akatarawa Forest between Whareroa Farm and Orange Hut. There will also be controls on Whareroa Farm and in Queen Elizabeth Park. It covers about 35sq km, and rises from sea level to 600m with views over Kapiti Island and coast. It's mostly the rugged Akatarawa native forest that is the signature of the event, but there are enough easy parts for cautious 4 hour teams. There is some private land that is allowed to be used just for the event.
