Akatarawa Attack in Karori, Wellington
The Akatarawa Attack is a mountain bike rogaine in the rugged Akatarawa Ranges near Wellington, which can also be run on foot.
To retain the mystique of the rugged ranges, every second year it runs outside the Akas. 2017 is a not The Ak Attack year. We will update this listing (and location) as more information comes to hand.
The area is the Akatarawa Forest between Whareroa Farm and Orange Hut. There will also be controls on Whareroa Farm and in Queen Elizabeth Park. It covers about 35sq km, and rises from sea level to 600m with views over Kapiti Island and coast. It's mostly the rugged Akatarawa native forest that is the signature of the event, but there are enough easy parts for cautious 4 hour teams. There is some private land that is allowed to be used just for the event.
This event starts from Mud Cycles in Karori.
