Weekly Newsletter May 17th 2011

This is a copy of the weekly newsletter from the New Zealand Running sent by email on May 17th 2011 covering events coming up over the next two weeks, regular weekday events, and competitions.

Current Competitions

Go in the draw to win one of three entries into the Carters Whangarei Run/Walk Festival on September 11th 2011. This competition runs until Thursday May 26th 2011 at 11:59pm and the winners will be drawn at random the following day. Enter competition here.

Recent Competition Winners

Gabrielle Johnson from Auckland won an entry to the 10K event at the Huntly Half Marathon this weekend coming up. This was a last minute Facebook only competition which is why you wouldn't have seen it in these weekly newsletters :)

Tony Ah Colt from Waitakere City won the free entry into the 10K at Run Auckland 2011 at Onepoto Domain on Sunday May 29th 2011.

Johnathan Dodd from Rotorua and Penny Kirkwood from Auckland each one an entry into the Big O Trail Run on May 28th 2011. Both are running the 35K. Penny said "Awesome news! My mates were so wanting me to join them on this one!"

Saturday May 21st 2011

• Riverrun Trail Series at Damper Bay/Waterfall Creek in Wanaka - a 14km trail run

Sunday May 22th 2011

• Huntly Half Marathon, 10K and Kids 2K
• Panmure King of the Mountain in Auckland with Half Marathon, 11K, solo 5K or team 5K wheelbarrow race
• Sri Chinmoy at Hagley Park in Christchurch with 10K and 2.5K kids races
• Xterra Auckland at Riverhead with 6.3K, 12K, 19K and 23K options. I'm running the 23K.
• Xterra Wellington at Orongorongos, Rimutaka Forest Park with 7K, 12K and 20K options.

Saturday May 28th 2011

• Big O Trail Run in Rotorua with 35K and 19K options

Sunday May 29th 2011

• Britomart Block Benefit for Christchurch in Auckland; this is a team fundraising event
• Paihia Run/Walk with 6K walk and 8K run options; this is part of the Sport Northland Series
• Rebecca McPahil 5K Fundraiser in Christchurch
• Run Auckland at Onepoto Domain; 5K, 10K and Run Kids 2K/4K events. I'm running the 10K.
• 3 Peaks Challenge in Wellington; it's approximately 20K depending on the route you take
• Makahika Mountain Trail Run near Levin with 11K and 17K options

Recurring events

All events listed below are weekly unless otherwise noted in italics.

Mondays

• The Frontrunner New Plymouth 5K Series at 5:30pm
• The Honest Lawyer 5K Series from 6:00pm from April 18th to May 23rd

Tuesdays

• O'Hagan's 5K Series at 6:00pm
• AdiRun Newmarket at 6:00pm with 5K, 7K and 10K options

Wednesdays

• The Rat Race 5K in Milford, Auckland at 6:00pm
• Waitakere 5K at 6:15pm

Thursdays

• Devonport Sun Run at 6:00pm until April 28th
