The Taihape Half Marathon takes participants on a 21.1km journey through the scenic Moawhango Valley, starting at Wainui Hall, 5km northwest of Taihape township. There are also 10km, 5km and kids 2.6km fun run and walk events.
All events start and finish at Wainui Hall on Pungatawa Road north of Taihape, as shown approximately in the map below. Directions from the official website are as follows:
Taihape is located on State Highway 1 between Taupo and Palmerston North. If coming from the north turn left at the Gretna Hotel or if coming from the south, then please turn right at the Gretna and follow the Napier Taihape/Spooners Hill Road for approx 3km and turn right onto Pungatawa Road. Wainui Hall is approx 2km along Pungatawa Road.
