The KidsCan Great New Zealand Santa Run was at 7 locations around New Zealand on December 7th 2011 - Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
I ran at the Auckland event starting from Waitemata Plaza at the Viaduct Harbour along with over 900 other Santas and there were something like 2000 Santas nationwide!
The event itself was a lot of fun - we got a Santa suit as part of the entry fee and some people went the extra mile - there was a chicken, cow, a group of people tied together in a sleigh, people with dogs with antlers on their heads and more.
I ran on my own, not realising how much of a family event it was, but next year we'll run it all as a family. There were a lot of families there pushing kids in strollers, kids going around on scooters and some really little kids running the whole thing.

A fun event to have participated in, if a little hot in that Santa suit! I look forward to doing it again next year, this time with Jane and my boys.
