The Shoe Clinic Hawke's Bay Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km run/walk is on Saturday September 3rd 2011 and features an out and back measured and certified course of 42.195K, starting and finishing at Guthrie Park, Havelock North.
The Hawke's Bay Marathon was an annual event but was discontinued after the 2011 event. The statement on the official website is as follows:
Run Walk Hawke's Bay has resolved to discontinue the Hawke's Bay marathon in its current format. Reasons include the significant decline in participants in recent years. It is sad to lose such a longstanding event. Comments from club members and the significant decline in entries signalled the event was not one favoured by our membes or the public. The club needs to respond to what our members and our target market require.
The club is considering holding a replacement event (which may have a relay component) on the various walkways in Hawke's Bay.
Over Christmas we shall explore possible options/routes, type of event/distances and then trial it out with a local focus initially. If it proves successful we can then market it further afield.
| Distance | Start time(s) |
