The Twin Lakes Marathon on Sunday November 28th 2010 is the first event over seven days in the 7 in 7 Challenge. It starts on the shores of Lake Hawea near Hawea township and ends at Glendhu Bay on the shores of Lake Wanaka.
Terrain: Most of the course consists of brand new, high quality, hard-packed gravel paths. Largely flat except for the last quarter of the run where the Millennium Track negotiates bluffs on the shore of Lake Wanaka.
Rating: Easy to Moderate. The closest to a road run that the 7in7 is ever likely to see!
The 7 in 7 Challenge was started by Mal Law to honour the memory of his brother Alan who died as a teenager from leukaemia and to raise money for the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation.
The challenge isn't an "official" organised event as such, and participants are expected to raise money for the foundation (suggested minimum $400 per day participating) and a $50 voluntary contibution to join in. You can run any or all of the day's events but please note that to particpate on day 7 you have to have entered the Kepler Challenge.
